Agricultural Business Council of Kansas City

The Agricultural Business Council of Kansas City is an association that advocates growth and awareness of the food, fiber, agri-science and related industries in the Kansas City region.

Established in late 2003, the Council's mission is to enhance greater understanding about this important industry by joining together Kansas and Missouri agricultural organizations, agribusinesses and other key leaders. This alliance includes more than 200 individuals, businesses and organizations associated with the extensive agricultural and food industry.
During 2007 the Council has great plans to bring forth the following emerging issues for discussion and further understanding among its members:
  • “The Impact of Consumer Advocacy Groups,” hosted by Shook, Hardy & Bacon.
  • “The Changing Grain Trade,” hosted by the Kansas City Board of Trade
  • “Agriculture and National Biosecurity,” presented by the National Biosecurity Center from K-State and University of Missouri.
  • “The 2007 Farm Bill”
  • “U.S. Energy Challenges and Opportunities”

The Council continues to provide opportunity for its members to meet with nationally renowned leaders regarding emerging issues, including USDA Secretary Johanns; EPA Region 7 Administrator Askew; Congressional leaders; federal and state officials; Academia and business leaders.

The Council, through its many volunteers, recently completed an economic impact study to promote awareness of the industry’s importance to the Kansas City region.
